Well here's my very first blog post. I wanted to create a blog where I can share some rants and raves with everyone and have folks be able to vent and share as well.
Today I have to rave about my decision to move from New York to Tennessee. I lived in NY my whole life but never really fit in with the culture. I'm not a big fan of a fast pace of life. The commute was awful. Sometimes I would sit on a bus to work for two hours. Can you imagine that? You could fly to TN in that time. The cost of living is totally ridiculous as well. I knew the time to make the move was now. Took awhile to sell my house. I'm renting a brand new house with brand new appliances and everything for a fraction of what my mortgage was.
And yes weather was a major factor. In the winter, I was snowed or iced in my house for days at a time. We usually lost power too for days at a time. So I'm looking forward to not having to deal with blizzards.
I'm learning to deal with the niceness of folks and hearing ma'am all the time. So far I think this was a great decision on my part.
So for those out there have you ever made a major move? And was it all that you hoped it would be?
I am glad you are happy with your life-changing decision. I have never made a major move, in fact I have been in this house(Dallas,TX)since 1980 and will probably be here the rest of my life. However, I have thought about it many times and pictured just what I would like and where I would go, but at 66 yrs old I probably will never do it, besides, I am not a big fan of change. May I ask you a couple of questions about your move? Did you have a job and house lined up before you moved? Why Tennesse?
ReplyDeleteI support the move now get me out of California!
ReplyDeleteI moved to TN because I have family here. I have been down here a few times and fell in love with it here. I didn't have a job but found a house to rent before moving. I am not a big fan of change either but this was something that I had to do for my own piece of mind. Linette there is plenty of room down here in TN. LOL
ReplyDeleteMuch happiness to you in your new environment!
